On January 10th and 11th, the National Retail Federation held its annual right here in NYC at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. This show is an amazing opportunity to hear from big names and brilliant minds who currently make up the fashion and retail industry鈥攐ur industry.
It was a weekend filled with executive keynote speakers, student panelists who now work in the industry鈥攊ncluding a LIM alum! 鈥攁n exclusive mentorship experience, internship/job opportunities, networking, and so much more. From Macy鈥檚 to PetSmart, Sephora to Kohl鈥檚, Starbucks to Levi鈥檚, and everything in-between, there was a lot to learn from so many different aspects and perspectives of the business.
At an event like this, even if you鈥檙e not entirely sure what to expect (like me), the best you can do is bring professionalism and an open mind that is ready to soak up information that has the potential to take your career鈥攁nd your attitude towards it鈥攖o the next level. It鈥檚 about finding out what you can bring to the table and how you might be able to change the industry (or any industry) for the better. Getting the chance to hear from executives who truly want to see our generation of retailers thrive, and potentially be a part of their teams, was an inspiring way to start off the New Year.
