Punjab govt announces India's 'gold' prize; Amarinder Singh promises Rs 2 crore to Neeraj Chopra

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has announced a bounty of Rs 2 crore for Neeraj Chopra.
Earlier, Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar had announced a bounty of Rs 6 crore.
Neeraj hails from Panipat in Haryana. In the men's javelin throw, Neeraj Chopra won the gold with a distance of 87.58 meters.
Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has announced a bounty of Rs 2 crore for Neeraj Chopra, who 'won gold' through the javelin throw, ending India's years-long dream of winning gold in the athletics category at the Olympics. Earlier, Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar had announced a bounty of Rs 6 crore.
He also announced that Neeraj will be given a Class 1 category job. Center of Excellence for Athletes will be set up at Panchkula. If interested, Neeraj will be made it's boss. Khattar said that like other players, Neeraj will be given a plot with a 50 percent discount.
Neeraj hails from Panipat in Haryana. In the men's javelin throw, Neeraj Chopra won the gold with a distance of 87.58 meters.
This junior commissioned officer in the Army is the second Indian to win individual gold after Abhinav Bindra. This is the first time since Beijing that India has won gold in the Olympics. Neeraj found the gold in his second attempt in the final. Neeraj started the fight by finishing first in the qualifying round and finding the best distance to qualify for the final.
He shot 87.03 meters in the first attempt and 76.79 meters in the third attempt. Wadley Yacoub of the Czech Republic won silver in the fifth attempt with a distance of 86.67 meters, while Wesley Wittslaw of the Czech Republic won bronze in the third attempt with a distance of 85.44 meters.
