Team India set a new Asian record in the men's 4x400m relay but failed to qualify for the finals at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday.
The team of Mohammad Anas, Noah Nirmal Tom, Arokia Rajeev, and Amoj Jacob finished fourth in the second heat at 3: 00.25 at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.
Italy (2: 58.91) and the Netherlands (2: 59.06) reached the final.

Italy (2: 58.91) and the Netherlands (2: 59.06) reached the final.
Poland won the second heat with a time of 58.55. Jamaica finished second in 2: 59.29 while Belgium finished third in 2: 59.37. Anas scored 45.67 in the first match to lead South Africa and Colombia. Noah scored 45.06 in the second match while Rajeev scored 44.84 in the third. Jacob made an incredible effort in the final round to move from sixth to fourth but failed to reach the final. The men's relay team finished 13th out of 16 teams to qualify for the Olympics.
